Mycomputercareer.com

http://mycomputercareer.com/
Hello just wanted to start this so people can find out some info about this company. I currently goto this school, and for $25,000 then with interest you pay close to 40,000. Definitely not worth it wish I could go back in time and kick my own ass. They promise a lot and sounds great, especially those who want a career change. Tony Galati, owner, will say he can get you a job as soon as you get your A+ and MCP.Well I got CompTIA A+; MCP; MCTS; MCDST; and my MCSA, and I have yet to see this company deliver on there promise to get students a job. It's been 7 months and no job. I quit work to study full time and to get a job in less then 3 months as he said in his Prospective Presentation. Now I just want to say I'm not the only student that feels this way. I'm gonna post a letter that was Emailed to Tony. Hope other students add there input.

LETTER BELOW

Tony and Bill,

We would like to express our concerns and issues with several things that have taken place at Mycomputercareer.com that we feel need to be addressed. We have also been informed by Bob Yamin to pass our concerns on to you.

Our first concern is that we feel this company has not been honest with any of the students taking these classes. The commercials on the radio are misleading because they offer promises that cannot be met such as “We will find you a job, work with local companies to find the jobs that aren’t advertised (Career Builder, Indeed , Dice etc-which are advertised) with companies who are ready to hire”. Our entire class has been promised this. It seems that the money is there only if you already have 3 years of experience. We, as a class feel mislead by the quote, “the easiest part of this is finding you a job” (this was quoted to each person in our class)? If we are not mistaken, no one in our class has had a job found for them. We were told things like “I have a company right now that needs 40 techs and I need the students to fill these positions”. How many students actually got a position there? We really do not want to be misled when it comes to promises made.

Students should be informed upfront that all jobs out there require a certain amount of years of experience and that you cannot secure a job just with these certifications. You cannot make a career change with the certifications alone. This is a major piece of the puzzle that is missing from the communication at Mycomputercareer.com.

We have done some research and discovered that there has been a similar business like this owned by you under another name that has since gone under, this does not provide us any security.

We believe this could be an honest company that can really succeed if the focus was on being honest with students by following through with what they were promised. If you are going to communicate to potential students that this is a career change and that you will be placed in jobs guaranteed then you need to ensure that happens. There needs to be individuals (more than 1 person) at Mycomputercareer.com that focuses on making sure students find jobs that are worth the cost of the courses. If anything, a recruiter needs to be hired who can ensure all efforts are being taken to find jobs for students.

We feel like we have been misguided by the mission statement that states; “assist and guide our students in finding and securing a new career in the IT industry with the assistance and experience of our Director of Placement”. The company also mentions in the Career Placement Services Overview that “Our career placement Directors (again who are they?) work with local companies (these local companies have not been specified to students) to find the jobs that aren’t advertised with companies who are ready to hire.” And it also states “We will provide you with a list of employers (not temp agencies) that we work with right here in North Carolina”. Again, who has been helped from our classes with finding a job because in my class alone not one person has been helped or has had an interview? Also, as a class we sent Steve to speak with you around Thanksgiving about substituting MCSE for CISCO. And we were told by Steve that you would think about it and let us know. We never heard back from you! We feel that as a class, this is a concern that should be addressed. Please do not avoid the situations and concerns we have expressed as students and our expectations. We would like for you (Tony) only to attend our class next Tuesday February 24, 2009 to discuss the concerns that are addressed in this letter. Please do not postpone this meeting or not show up at all. We would like a conversation, face to face and not by phone or e-mail. We, as a class, have taken the time to write this letter and voice concerns that we deserve the courtesy of a response and a resolution. We think the red flag is that we have concerns and have taken the time to pass them on. Please take the next step to resolve them.

  1. Do Not Go to MYComputerCareer.com IT is a Scam. They promise and Fall short. You cannot get a job makeing 40+ it is not possible without it experience. Right now i am paying 1000 dollars a week to have a quater time instructor, and an assistant that is learning with us, trying to help. For the money, time, and effort you will lose more than you gain

  2. Please note that MyCC mgt. did meet with students in February as requested in the letter above. Turns out there was a small minority of students who shared these sentiments. Since this was written, at least 9 or 10 MyCC students have been hired in entry level positions or above. MyCC doesn't "guarantee" anyone a job. They do promise that you will receive your certifications via a test-pass guarantee, and that they will HELP you find a job by connecting you with local employers, agencies, and local job opportunities by every means practical, and by teaching you resume and interview skills. This they do as promised. Frustration over unfulfilled expectations is understandable. In this economy, finding employment requires dedicated effort on the part of job candidates. MyCC makes an extraordinary effort to assist students in this effort but they can't do it entirely for you. Consider the comments of this extremely satisfied student: "I started at mycomputercareer in oct. of 2008. when I came In for my initial consultation I was kinda skeptical about How I would be able to change my career after 15 yrs. of self employment in a field that had nothing to do with computers. I am writing you to tell you thank you for all your assisitance in this transformation. I have received 4 certs. and have just got my first job yesterday. I couldn't have done it without the help of jennifer miller, and my instructors."
Those reading these posts should remember that YOU are the most important element in your own career. Your experience will be positive, negative, or neutral depending on what YOU bring to the table. MyCC does make every effort to fulfill on its promises to each and every student. Most have had and are having success in their career transitions.

  3. This is what is wrong with America! LAZY Bastards that want everything handed to them. Why dont you get your own job if you got the certs? Wow, let the crying begin.... Get your certs and continue to grow as an IT pro (read books - study) OR whine like a baby that the world didnt hand you everything.

I hope the whiners don't get jobs in IT, why ruin a good industry with cry babys?

AGAIN, this is whats wrong with America - This is why we out source jobs to Non-Whining countries because you Americans are spoiled.

  4. I just graduated from mycomputercareer.com. The guy that wrote this letter was one of 3 whiners in my class who wasted a lot of our time with their constant bad attitudes and negative emails. They never represented the class. They would have had bad things to say no matter what they did or where they went. Mr. Galati even challenged this guy in front of the class to show where he got the information from that he put in his letter because it was false and the guy never could. Funny thing is 2 of the 3, including the guy who wrote this blog, got jobs making over $50k because of mycomputercareer. The 3rd one said nobody can do it so he didn't even try. Most of the students in my class had jobs before we even graduated. Mycomputercareer did everything they promised and more. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to make a career change into the computer industry. I waited until after I graduated before I started working with the Placement Director but I am already very excited about the jobs she has submitted me for.

  5. don't go. they don't give a damn about the students, hell we haven't gotten a full 4 hours of instructions since our first week. a majority of the labs don't work, the machines are always jacked up, and charles is too busy sucking bob off to help get anything fixed and vice versa. don't even think that that skank jennifer is going to help you get a job, you better off throwing pennies in a wishing well. unfortunatley, through all there internal termoil, the students are the ones who take the fall and are penalized because of it. i have never felt so utterly fucked over in my life.

  6. I bet your parents felt this fucked after they had you.. Your an idiot and worthles. It's about fixing machines and the labs .. Jesus you inbread trailer moron. Bitch ...bitch ... bitch .. want the world handed to you ..try thinking its magical .. fuck bag.

  7. I was a student, got my certs and got a GREAT job. Many students were slackers, didnt to the labs or homework - they sat there and surfed the internet or played online games - then they bitch that they didnt get what was promised? The instructors were frickin smart as hell, knew almost everything about everything, Bob was a consultant and knows REAL world shit - not BS fluff. I make $60+ a year and it cost me $24K .. thats a GREAT DEAL and I had NO prior experience!

  9. I attended MyComputerCareer.com and finished my certifications late in December. I have been working very closely with the career services director and have sent out roughly 300 resumes. I still do not have a job 68 days later. I am not relying on the promises made by MyComputerCareer.com and I realize the economy is bad but after 68 days they have not done anything to place me in a position which was their verbal guarantee at my orientation. The statements made by previous posts are true when they say the machines are always broken and the quality if instruction is poor. Bob has to create test engines with the answers in order to pass the tests b/c they don't teach the material in a fashion the tests can be passed otherwise. The class before mine was failing so miserably they had to join it with my class so they could re-learn the material. I attended every class, took every online tutorial, practice test, lab, read every page of every book and was very successful in acquiring my certifications but that was only due to my hard-word and had absolutely nothing to do with MyComputerCareer.com which is a complete waste of money. If they were such a great school companies would be wanting thier students but that is obviously not the case.

  10. WOW. What arrogance you people have. ALL BECAUSE OF YOUR HARD WORK AND STUDY YOU GOT YOUR CERTS? WRONG!!! MYCC gave you all the tools just like they promised they would and you did pass the tests, so that sounds like they do what they say. As far as a job, with today's requirements of backgrounds-credit checks-and drug screening, jobs are not just handed over. MYCC has tons of jobs posted all throughout their office in Dallas. I have been enrolled since November 09 and am starting the advanced class in 2 weeks. LIKE EVERYTHING IN LIFE--YOU GET OUT WHAT YOU PUT IN!! You people all fail to acknowledge that MYCC tells you exactly that in orientation, or maybe I'm the only one they said it to, huh? They say they work hard to get you interviews and make you aware of open positions(and they do), it is up to you to show the company that's hiring what you have to offer and get the job. I'm out of work right now and I know it is tough, but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT BECAUSE OF MY COMPUTER CAREER.COM that we are not bringing home a paycheck. IT IS A GREAT COURSE WITH EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT INSTRUCTORS THAT DO CARE! Stop spreading lies and venom because you aren't some systems admin making $60k+ after 5 months of classwork and a few certifications. They tell you upfront it will take you atleast 6 months to get to the 40-60k we all want to make.

  11. Wow, thanks SO much for this blog post!! It's been VERY informative and now I have a better insight and understanding of MYCC. I'm thinking about attending MYCC and in my opionion I AM THE CREATOR OF MY OWN DESTINY. MYCC is just there to help me get equipped. I understand this, nothing is just handed to me, I hav to WORK for it and put forth the effort. KUDOS to those who got great jobs, I aspire to be in your positions one day and when I am I'll come back to the blog and post my success story from MYCC! Thanks again!

  12. Wow so much on one school. I wonder how much of it is true and how much is bull pookie. They all have a story which one is true, is it the one he told him or the one he told you? A. G. Quad "Tripple Platnum" Seems like we all should just let theschool do all of our work. Right?

  13. First of all; IT is the schools resposnibility to provide cirricula that prepares the student for core competencies of the job. Primarily, these are validated by the marketplace and certifications. Getting a job is FACILITATED by the school and is the ultimate responsibility of the student! For 15 years I recruited candidates for IT companies like SAP, Oracle, Cisco, IBM, etc. When I read the initial post, two things stood out. First, a student with very poor written communication skills. The grammar, syntax and more is that of a middle school. As communication, good communication is very important, I would not be inclined to hire the candidate unless he showed tremendous technical skills AND a willingness to work on his communication. The second thing noted was that there was no indication of what the student did on his own to get a job. Heck, I received an MBA from a prestigious school, yet, the onus fell on me to find a job. Yes, career services provided guidance, some resume writing assistance, hosted some interview sessions, etc., BUT it was my responsibility to find and to secure a job as well as my responsibility to pay for school, to complete the coursework and to feed myself. And, when my company went through a hostile takeover, it was my responsibility to prove my value, to keep and do my job well and when separated, it was my responsibility to find another job. The bottom line is any school facilitates the student's career and in no way can or should guarantee a job.

  14. If you are speaking with MCC in hopes of a better job and a viable IT career, take a moment to speak with their career counselors and obtain a list of companies they have made placements and the contact at each company. Reach out to those company contacts and ask them how many candidates they interviewed from MCC, how many they have hired, etc. Then ask what other schools they hire similar talent. Do they hire more or less from those schools? Whose graduates tend to do better once in the job? Also, take a moment to review the Better Business Bureau and the States' Attorney General sites as complaints are ramped for most for profit schools including MCC. At Cisco, we did not hire from them!

  17. Wednesday, January 5, 20116 mos. Computer Training Courses. Can you say SCAM?!?
You may say I'm bitter, you may say I'm wrong, you may even agree.

This is what comes to my mind when I feel the need to voice my opinion about Computer Training Schools. You hear the commercials. You know the type, "I was at a dead-end job, until I received my training!" or "It only took me six months, and now I'm in a great career, earning great money" blah, blah, blah. Now we even have a founder of one, Mycomputercareer.com, (Raleigh, NC based) trying to sell it. Well let me say, your full of it, if I was a paid actor, I'd say anything that they would tell me also, well TONY G., is the owner I guess, so he'll say it for your money! So where am I headed with this....oh, OK....here goes.

2007, I think, I enrolled in a Computer Training program, Computertraining.com to be exact, in Lancaster, PA. I was not so happy in my line of work, with a company of 15 years. I never went to college nor did I have the desire in my younger years. But when I heard the ads, about changing your career, I jumped. I went online, took the challenge and bam! Computertraining.com associate contacted me. Said I did very well and invited me to come to campus. "WOW", I thought. I wasn't hearing, good stuff at work, well I did do a nice job, but they never gave you the satisfaction of a "thata boy", so I was elated. I scheduled my appointment, a couple days later, I was there! A little nervous, but they said I will be shown around campus, and informed about the school. The instructor (teacher) talked to our group, oh forgot to mention, was with 4 other people, was given a T-shirt and a packet. So the selling began, yes the SELLING. The naive person I was at the time, listened to every positive tone, up-beat story, the sales-pitch was working on me, I was going to be RICH! I will have a career that, basically, I don't need to work hard at all and I will have everything I ever wanted just by attending Computertraining.com or right before there bankruptcy, Computertraining dot EDU. Never could figure that last ditch name change before bankruptcy. So back to my boring story...I was really feeling good about this, basically, he was a salesman and I had low self esteem. Plain and simple, I blame myself for getting myself tangled into there web, but they prey on the innocents, really they do. I can here Tony G.'s soft sweet voice from Mycomputertraining.com (wanting to throw-up right now) By the way TONY G., well he worked for Computertraining.com when I attended, he managed that Lancaster, PA branch. Mr. Happy, ready to take your money, or get you quickly approved through Sallie Mae, $25,000.00 dollars worth of education in just 6 months!!!

The power of positive thinking? A suggestion? Hit someone when they are down? Corner them into it? Lie to your customer, but sugar coat it? Hmmm? I guess we all have our stories, but I lived this one.

I never did finish, opted out after 3 mos., couldn't do it, instructor was no help, just a ridiculous situation. They only rembursed 30% I was there 3 months.

So I guess, what I'm trying to say, everyone probably has a story of these computer schools, good, bad, and indifferent. I found mostly bad, just say'n. I rate SCAM

If you are thinking of going to Mycomputercareer.com, please don't. Go to a community college nights, save a buck, get a better education!

    Peace out!

  18. so far the biggest waste of fucking money and time I have ever invested. I have 15 years experience in IT and corporate fucking America has turned the IT world into a slave trade. 15 years and absolutely no certifications and never believed I needed them. Then I get laid off from Verizon communications as a System Administrator, making $75K a year with bonuses and full benefits and now I can't find shit, and all the douchebag IT managers all like to drone on and on about getting certified to aid in getting a job. I don't need any god damn fucking certifications. I've built servers and maintained them for years without certs. Now you have an industry that's pushing for them over experience. Shit, I had to fix servers that so-called certified IT pros have fucking broken, because they follow book knowledge, when I follow real world knowledge. I think I'm going to set the god damn building on fire when I've completed a few certs and I still can't find a fucking job.. The only jobs they claim to have are fucking entry level jobs, that have you making $16-18/Hr. and sitting in a fucking cubicle taking phone calls all day.. Fuck No!!! I'll go back to working for myself, fixing and building PCs or growing Cannabis before I go back to working for corporate fucking America making shit pay with certs..
